Senior Ball: FAQ

Below are a number of Frequently Asked Questions regarding Senior Ball. If you are unable to find the answer to your question below, please contact our Senior Ball Chair Caroline Koch.

Q. What is Senior Ball?

A. Senior Ball is an opportunity for graduating Seniors to celebrate the culmination of their undergraduate years at Georgetown in the company of friends, family, and university staff and faculty. The evening will feature live music, a DJ, dancing, heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks (open bar), and desserts.

Q. How much are tickets for Senior Ball, and what payment methods are accepted?

A. Tickets for anyone 16 years of age or older cost $95. Tickets can be paid for with all  major credit cards, as well as cash or credit. If you choose the cash or credit options, there are special instructions for how to pay.

Q. Do graduating seniors need a ticket?

A. Yes, graduating seniors will need a ticket to attend the event.

Q: Is there a limited number of tickets each student can purchase?

A: The Senior Class Committee’s goal is to include as many students in Senior Ball as possible. For this reason, ticket sales will be limited to three tickets (one student, two additional family members) from the day the tickets go on sale to the beginning of April. After the initial sale period, ticket sales will be open to the public without a limit until capacity is reached. Senior Ball has sold out in the past, so it is strongly advised that current seniors buy their three tickets at the allotted time, and then purchase any additional tickets as soon as possible.

Q. Does my younger sibling have to pay full price?

A. Tickets for those 15 and under will cost $50, rather than $95. However, purchasing a ticket for a younger guest does count toward your three ticket limit – see above regarding the 3 ticket limit.

Q. Is dinner served?

A. The event will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks (open bar), and desserts. However, a full dinner is not served. Guests are advised to have a light dinner prior to the event.

Q. What is the dress code?

A. The dress code for the event is formal (black tie optional)

Guest may choose to wear a dark suit, white shirt and tie; a tuxedo; a cocktail dress; or a floor length dress.

Q. What if I bought a ticket, but cannot go to Senior Ball?

A. Up to one day prior to the event, contact Caroline Koch at seniorball@georgetown.edu, or use the refund request option on your Eventbrite confirmation to receive a full refund. We will resell the ticket at full price for another student.

Within 24 hours prior to the event, we will not be offering refunds for tickets to Senior Ball. You may attempt to sell your ticket to any Georgetown community member looking to purchase additional tickets. However, as was stated in the waiver during the purchase of your Senior Ball tickets, any resale of tickets for more than face value will result in Code of Conduct violation procedures for students, and a cancellation of all tickets.

Q. Will there be seating available?

A. To accommodate the wide range of ages, interests, and abilities of our guests, ample tables and seating will be available throughout Union Station. However, seating is not available for advance reservation, and guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure a table for their party.

Q. Can I bring my children and/or grandparents?

A. Much like a wedding reception, Senior Ball is a family-friendly event open to guests of all ages.
